Everest Home Improvements
As part of my degree I spent a year on placement as an in-house designer at Everest Home Improvements. I gained valuable experience in working as part of both a small design team as well as larger marketing team which included working with various design & marketing agencies.
Everest had never had an in-house design team before we arrived and had brought us in to test whether having one would benefit the firm. This meant that the whole experience was great as we were given a lot of responsibility to execute design projects and work to manage elements of the different projects with the various design and marketing agencies that Everest utilize.
Garden Rooms
Everest had planned the launch of a new garden room range. However they had no photography of the product for their sales materials.
I suggested building CAD models of the garden rooms and rendering them for the brochures. I was tasked with building high detail CAD models of each of the garden room configuration options and to create a catalogue for customers to configure their garden room from the nearly 2,000 combinations available.
I began buy building detailed models of the windows and doors with working hinges and handles, before moving onto building the wall and roof panels, adding the flooring and sitting the building on a small plinth. I then built a few pieces of furniture to fit in the garden room to give customers ideas as to how they could use their Garden Room.
I then took these models and rendered them in Keyshot to create the images for the sales material.
Everest Technical Guide
I was tasked with creating a technical guide for everyone who works at Everest with the aim to creating a book that would be able to answer any questions a customer may have regarding the product range. Most of this information only existed on scraps of paper or in people’s heads. I therefore worked tirelessly interviewing people and sourcing information and writing it up for the guide.
Once I had got all the information I needed typed up I needed a way of showing this information in a way that would make it easy for people to see and understand. We sourced all the photographs we were able to however anything that I couldn’t get photography for that needed showing required illustrating. Over a 2 month period I illustrated nearly 200 images below are some of the best ones I did as part of this huge project.
The project took nearly 4 months to complete with the guide ending up at 192 pages in total
